Our Mission

The Mormon Women’s History Initiative Team (MWHIT), founded in 2003, promotes research and networking in the field of Mormon Women’s History. We highlight the lives and experiences of Mormon women across the nineteenth and twentieth centuries by bringing them to diverse audiences in print and in person.

As an independent group of scholars, we act as a “hub” to facilitate connection and coordination of the efforts of many groups and individuals, and as a "bridge" to the community. Our ongoing initiatives include the following:

  • Hosting an annual breakfast at the Mormon History Association conference
  • Holding community events to highlight new publications and projects
  • Sponsoring awards to recognize outstanding work
  • Organizing sessions and presentations at scholarly conferences
  • Reaching out to our network through a semi-annual newsletter
  • Facilitating networking between scholars
  • Developing an online presence through our web site and social media
