TARIENNE MITCHELL
Tarienne Mitchell graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Video Production and graduated from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill with a Master’s Degree in Library Science.
She has worked in archives, museums, and libraries around the country including the archives at Wake Forest University in Ohio, The Reynolda House Museum in North Carolina, the UNC Media Library in North Carolina, and the Salt Lake County Archive in Utah.
Tarienne currently works as an Audio Visual Archivist at the LDS Church History Library, where she also strives to collect oral histories and papers pertaining to the activities of black Latter- day Saints. She earned her Archivist Certification in 2017, becoming Utah’s first African American Archivist.
Tarienne serves the community in various volunteer positions including as the Historian Chairperson for the Utah Chapter of Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society – the only African American historical or genealogical society in Utah.
She loves watching films, doing family history work, and learning more about African American history.
